Our club is working proactively to recruit young people interested in playing the game of bowls. This work is being led by the club’s coach who is working with staff from the local authority’s youth bus as well as having contact with junior and secondary schools in the area.
As part of our engagement with local youth groups and schools, we now host a regular youth coaching session each Thursday afternoon which has proved very popular and is now attracting a number of young people – as well as their parents who are now joining in with the sessions.
Our coach has regular contact with the local authority youth bus, and this has resulted in the bowls sessions being offered as part of the regularly weekly activity list.
As a result of the growing level of interest, the club coach is now working with Somerset Bowls to further develop the engagement of young players.
