A date for your diaries and a call for help.

Fred has shared the news that we are in the process of agreeing to supervise and host a disability bowls competition for Somerset. It is to happen on Sunday the 31st of August. Fred has the task of putting the competition together and providing the management of the day and needs several people to assist him with the planning of this project. On the day, we will need considerable support from club members to ensure it is successful. It will be good publicity for the club and is a good thing in its own right. If the entry level is greater than we expect, we would possibly have to consider one extra day for the preliminary rounds at a date to be agreed.
The competition will be open to all bowlers who need an aid to enable them to bowl, such as a bowls stick, a bowling arm, a wheelchair, or any other support during the bowling action.
We will seek sponsorship from the various companies and businesses within the village and other firms within the Bowls World.
We would like volunteers to help with stewarding and marking on the day.
We are in contact with some of the bowls equipment suppliers and hope they will support and, if time is available, put on a demonstration of various bowls aids at the event.
We see this as an opportunity to demonstrate the inclusivity of our sport. It provides a showcase for all that our sport can do for any age and any person of whatever physical and mental ability.
